Turbine Services

Turbine Services (TS) have been around since 1994 and have become well known in their industry by word of mouth. TS build, install and maintain renewable energy sources such as wind and water turbines (and all accessories) for both commercial and domestic usage.

TS’s product line is fairly complex in terms of creating a required system, as each system will be bespoke to its client’s specific needs. For this reason, TS’s products are not available for direct purchase online; the website therefore acts solely as a brochure type site and as a point of enquiry leading to much more detailed discussion and consultation regarding full requirements.

TS’s old website was looking very dated and potentially losing a lot of trade. The old website did not make the experience of visiting TS, online, a very enjoyable one. We all know first impressions last and the impression the old website gave was not one of a thriving, professional and experienced company. Not only was the site dated but also difficult to maintain and laborious to develop further in its’ state.

TS made the decision to acquire a new website to reflect their success and growing customer base. They also required a full Content Management System (CMS) for easy maintenance and additions whenever required.

TS had a limited time frame and budget to get the site designed, developed and on-line.

Project #1 www.turbineservices.co.uk

TS approached evolve to deliver to them a great looking website on which to promote their range of products and services and provide customers with an easy point of contact to further their enquires. A CMS would also be ensuring updates and maintenance could be carried out quickly and easily and that the website could continue to grow as their business increased in size.

How

1. Design

E-volve provided TS with a number of designs and colour schemes to choose from. The designs ensured that the information was clearly laid out with good use of TS’s product images.

2. Categories

Using categories the website provides a very clear dynamic, database driven, main and sub navigation system ensuring customers can easily navigate around the site.

Google Analytics was integrated to monitor website traffic

E-volve set up a Google Analytics account in order for TS to track its website performance in terms of traffic.

Project #2 Admin System

Since TS’s website would not be selling products e-volve decided to keep the CMS as simple as possible and only build in the essential features, keeping costs down and ensuring the system would be delivered on time.

How

1. General Features

All features used to manage pages such as ‘about-us’, ‘contact-us’, ‘home’ page and so on are now provided in the CMS.

Customer enquiries are managed and kept track of to ensure all customer queries are followed up.

User management is also included to ensure secure access to the CMS. Any changes made in the CMS are recorded by date and user.

2. Product and Product Categories

Although the website was not selling products it still required a CMS which could manage the products and their categories. Category and product pages are included in the CMS to allow for these pages to be managed as required.

The CMS also allows for the navigation to be set according to TS’s own rank or importance in relation to the categories they have added.

Project #3 Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Website Content

TS required SEO work to be carried out. All pages, products, categories etc which are dynamically displayed on the website have their own manageable SEO content. This SEO content was written from scratch, ensuring the highest possible ranking by Google and various other search engines and includes all keywords, descriptions, page titles, headers, general content, images and so on.

This process also included Search Engine Transition which allowed for all the old website pages to redirect to the appropriate new website pages while maintaining all search engine rankings the old site had already built up.
